BuddyBoost is a real-time referral and social shopping app. It automatically pairs customers who are shopping on your store at the same time and challenges them to reach a higher cart value together. If they both hit their individual spending targets, they unlock a unique, single-use discount code.

Traditional referral programs are asynchronous: "Send a link to a friend, wait for them to buy." BuddyBoost is synchronous: "Shop with someone right now." It captures customers who are already on your site and uses social pressure/gamification to increase their order value immediately.

No! The primary "magic" of BuddyBoost is that it can auto-match two strangers who are browsing your store simultaneously. However, customers can also invite friends via a link if no one else is online.

No. BuddyBoost works entirely within your store's browser window. There are no logins, downloads, or friction for your shoppers.

Yes, BuddyBoost works with any Online Store 2.0 theme (Dawn, Sense, Prestige, etc.) via App Embeds. It does not require any code edits to your theme files.

Yes, the widget and popup are fully responsive and optimized for mobile shoppers.

No. BuddyBoost uses a lightweight script derived from Cloudflare's edge network. The heavy lifting (matching logic) happens on our servers, not your customer's device.

Currently, BuddyBoost is optimized for Shopify Liquid themes. Headless support is on our roadmap.

When a match is successful, BuddyBoost uses the Shopify API to create a unique, single-use discount code for each shopper.

No. We use a proprietary security feature ("Session-Bound Discounts") that cryptographically ties the discount code to the specific shopper's session. If they send the code to a friend, our Checkout Extension will detect the mismatch and remove the code from the friend's cart.

All matching stops immediately. Any unused discount codes generated by the app will remain in your Shopify admin until they expire (usually 24 hours), but the app will no longer charge you.

We charge based on "Sessions." A session is counted when a unique visitor joins the matching queue (i.e., adds enough items to hit your Cart Threshold). We do not charge a percentage of your revenue.

The app will stop matching new customers until the next billing cycle or until you upgrade your plan. You will be notified via email before this happens.

Yes. In the "Customize" tab, you can set the primary color, background color, and text color to match your brand. You can also choose the position (bottom-left, bottom-right, etc.).

Yes. You can configure the percentage (e.g., 10%, 20%) and the validity duration (e.g., 30 minutes, 1 hour) in the Settings tab.

Not currently. The Cart Threshold is a single value based on your store's default currency.

1. Ensure the "App Embed" is enabled in your Theme Editor. 2. Check your "Cart Threshold" in the app settings. The popup only appears once a customer's cart value meets or exceeds this amount. 3. Verify you have an active subscription plan (or are in trial).

Ensure they have actually hit their individual spending target. The progress bar must be 100% full for the discount to unlock.

BuddyBoost creates standard Shopify discount codes. Whether they stack with other discounts depends on your store's "Discount combinations" settings in Shopify Admin > Discounts.
