1. Information We Collect

A. Information from Merchants

When you install the App, we automatically access certain types of information from your Shopify account to provide and maintain the Service:

• Account Information: Your Shopify Store URL, store name, and the store owner's email address. We use this to communicate with you about your account, provide customer support, and send essential service updates.
• Store Configuration: Information about your installed themes and store settings required to smoothly integrate the App's interface with your storefront.
• Transactional Data: Data related to the discounts generated by the App and the resulting orders, which we use to provide you with accurate performance analytics and billing metrics.

B. Information Processed from Buyers

BuddyBoost provides real-time matching and discount generation for shoppers on your store. To achieve this, we process an extremely limited set of Buyer data:

• Session Data: We collect anonymous, temporary session identifiers and cart subtotals necessary to pair shoppers and monitor their progress toward discount thresholds.
• Strict Limitations on Collection: We do not collect, process, or store personally identifiable information (PII) from Buyers, such as names, email addresses, physical addresses, or payment information. The matching process is entirely anonymous by design.

2. How We Use the Information

We use the information we collect strictly to operate, secure, and improve the App. Specifically, we use it to:

• Enable the real-time social shopping and collaborative discount features of the App.
• Generate unique, secure discount codes and ensure they are applied correctly at checkout.
• Provide Merchants with aggregated, anonymized analytics regarding App performance and usage.
• Process subscription billing securely through Shopify's billing system.
• Respond to customer service requests and provide technical support.
• Monitor against fraudulent activity and unauthorized use of the Service.

3. Sharing Your Information

We respect your privacy and the privacy of your customers. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties.

4. Data Security and Retention

Security Measures

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information and Buyer data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Retention Periods

• Merchant Data: We retain Merchant account information for as long as the App is installed on your store. If you choose to uninstall the App, we will initiate the deletion of your account data within the timeframes mandated by Shopify.
• Buyer Data: The anonymous session data used to match shoppers is highly ephemeral. It is processed in real-time and briefly retained only as long as necessary to complete the active shopping session, after which it is discarded.

5. Your Data Protection Rights

Depending on your location (such as the European Economic Area, the UK, or California), you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

• Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Request erasure of your personal information (the "right to be forgotten").
• Object to or restrict the processing of your personal information.

For Merchants: To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information provided below.

For Buyers: BuddyBoost does not collect or store identifying information about Buyers, we act as a Data Processor on behalf of the Merchant (the Data Controller).

6. International Data Transfers

Our Service relies on secure cloud infrastructure hosted primarily in the United States. By installing the App, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in facilities located outside of your country of residence, where data protection laws may differ.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. We will notify Merchants of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Policy or by sending a notification via email or through the App dashboard. Your continued use of the App after such modifications will constitute your acknowledgment of the modified Privacy Policy.
